North Carolina 811

North Carolina 811's primary purpose is to act as a communication link between excavators and underground facility operators for locate requests.  North Carolina 811 also will educate the industry and general public on the North Carolina State Statute (Section 1. Chapter 87) regarding the notification of excavation work. Because North Carolina 811 is a non-profit organization, we are always looking for ways to spread the message of "Call Before You Dig". 

It’s the Law – Call Before You Dig!

As mentioned above, North Carolina State law requires anyone planning to disturb the soil, must provide advance notice to the underground facility owners. The notice must be at least two business days prior to any excavation but no more than ten business days.

North Carolina Utility Coordinating Committees

North Carolina 811 has worked with the utility owners in each county to develop Utility Coordinating Committees (UCC's).  Each UCC is comprised of local utility owners to meet and discuss up coming and on going projects.   These meetings are designed to discuss and create open communication lines between the local utilities.  To find the UCC nearest you, please see the link below:
